Igudesman & Joo rocked the Tonhalle with their guests
Dusseldorf, November 12, 2023 – Renowned artists Igudesman & Joo returned to the Tonhalle Dusseldorf with their „Virtuoso Variety – a Show with Stars & Freaks“. This time, they were joined by the globally celebrated comedy duo Umbilical Brothers from Australia and the British-Norwegian-Swedish Lodestar Trio. Together, they took their audience on a musical journey filled with humor.
The globally acclaimed instrumental duo Igudesman & Joo, consisting of two composers, humorists, and virtuosos on their instruments, the violin and the piano, once again hosted their unparalleled variety show of classical music last night. This time, they presented special guest artists: the globally celebrated Australian comedy duo Umbilical Brothers and the British-Norwegian-Swedish Lodestar Trio, infusing groove and improvisation into Baroque music with traditional Nordic string instruments.
Classical meets comedy: Violinist Aleksey Igudesman and piano wizard Hyung-ki Joo are loved by classical colleagues and audiences alike because they uniquely combine high-level musical skills with great fun. Exclusively for the Tonhalle, Igudesman & Joo curated their own concert series with „Virtuoso Variety – a Show with Stars & Freaks“. The duo invites talents from various disciplines, realms, and musical genres to the stage, igniting a circus-like fireworks display of British humor, breathtaking virtuosity, and fantastic music!
With piano solos and virtuoso violin performances, they once again demonstrated their exceptional skills. However, it wasn’t just the music that made this evening unforgettable: Igudesman & Joo once again showcased their comedic talent and, together with their guests, brought hearty laughter and a wonderful atmosphere to their audience.

Igudesman & Joo will be back with their spectacular show „Virtuoso Variety – a Show with Stars & Freaks“ on March 2, 2024, at the Tonhalle Dusseldorf. They will present, among others, the world’s most famous mandolin player, Israeli Avi Avital, and the world-renowned Janoska Ensemble, known for their incredible Gypsy-Jazz arrangements.
