Munich, June 1, 2024 – For 20 years, Igudesman & Joo has captivated audiences of all ages with their unique blend of musical prowess, humor, groundbreaking arrangements, and delightful chaos. Starting in September, they will present „Coda – The Final Nightmare Music“, a spectacular show that highlights their long musical journey. However, coda also marks the end of this musical odyssey. By the end of 2025, the dynamic duo will take the stage together for the last time. This announcement was made by the exceptional musicians last night on the ORF TV show „Die Goldene Note“.
But don’t worry, the iconic humorous music duo will still be with us until the end of 2025. In their farewell program, Mozart, Beethoven, and other famous composers will once again be put through their madcap wringer.
Aleksey Igudesman is a renowned violinist, conductor, composer, and film director, known for his long-term collaboration with Hollywood star Hans Zimmer. Igudesman is also a co-founder of the Vienna-based startup „Music Traveler,“ a sharing economy platform that centralizes venues and music spaces for creatives. „Hyung-ki and I love each other; we are and will remain best friends. But enough is enough! Just kidding – we feel that we have experienced a lot as a duo. And how many more times can we torture Mozart?“ says Igudesman.
Hyung-ki Joo is an outstanding pianist, conductor, composer, and much more. He once worked on Billy Joel’s piano album and personally recorded it for him. Joo says, „It is very symbolic that our farewell tour includes a performance at the Musikverein – where we began our career together with our very first show ‚A Little Nightmare Music.‘ We were even the first artists to perform in the Glass Hall. I am particularly pleased that we can now end our virtuosic mischief in the historic Golden Hall.“
Igudesman & Joo’s new single, „Everyone Is Here,“ recorded live with the Czech Philharmonic, will be released on June 7. The song was composed by Aleksey Igudesman in collaboration with the legendary singer-songwriter Eric Camen.
Hyung-ki Joo will continue to perform worldwide as a piano soloist, playing his own compositions. He will also continue conducting symphony and youth orchestras. In August, he will be on the jury of the „Cleveland International Piano Competition,“ one of the world’s most prestigious piano competitions.
Aleksey Igudesman will continue working on film projects as a composer, producer, actor, and sometimes even as a director. He will also maintain his conducting collaboration with John Malkovich. The secret of another significant project by Igudesman, which „will revolutionize the music world,“ will be revealed soon.
