Cornelia Corba as Schwabing’s Gisela
On January 24, 2024, the legendary Schwabing’s Gisela would have celebrated her 95th birthday.
On this occasion, Cornelia Corba dedicated her erotic and humorous concert show to the Schwabing legend at the sold-out „Silbersaal“ of the Deutsches Theater in Munich.
It is a cheerful homage to the artist and scene district of Schwabing, where Gisela Jonas sang frivolous songs every evening at her establishment „Bei Gisela,“ including the famous „Aber der Nowak lässt mich nicht verkommen.“
Celebrities such as Maria Callas, Leonard Bernstein, Kirk Douglas, Orson Welles, Princess Soraya, and many others, including „ordinary“ locals, were enthralled, making the venue and its proprietress a celebrity even covered in the New York Times.
With original images on a large screen and virtuoso accompaniment on the piano by the multi-award-winning composer Thomas E. Killinger, Cornelia Corba brings the post-war economic miracle era back to life.
