Fritz Egner Presents His Book “My Life Between Rhythm & Blues”
Munich, December 2, 2025 – Around 100 long-time friends and companions gathered last night at the invitation of radio legend Fritz Egner and the Kulmbach-based Plassen Verlag at the elegant Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich. Together, publisher and author presented the new edition of Fritz Egner’s autobiography “My Life Between Rhythm & Blues.”
The evening unfolded as a vivid journey through Fritz Egner’s extraordinary career, enriched with personal anecdotes about encounters with international music icons such as Madonna, Dolly Parton, Tina Turner, James Brown, Joe Cocker, Mick Jagger, Lionel Richie, Rod Stewart, Barry White, and Stevie Wonder.
Music journalist Alexander Gernandt joined Fritz Egner on stage as a knowledgeable and engaging conversation partner. With charm, wit, and an obvious sense of familiarity, he coaxed stories from Egner that left the audience both amazed and amused. From unexpected backstage encounters and unforgettable interviews to moments when global superstars suddenly revealed a refreshingly down-to-earth side, Fritz Egner spoke with the enthusiasm of a man who doesn’t just love music – he lives it.
Fritz Egner commented on his book: “I wrote this book for everyone who loves music as much as I do. And perhaps I can even put a smile on one or two faces.”
Publisher Bernd Förtsch also expressed his delight: “The incredible wealth of memories possessed by a legend like Fritz Egner is a treasure for every music lover. This book is truly a labor of love.”
After the official program, musician Charlie Glass provided the perfect finale. Performing on the self-playing Steinway grand piano Spirio Record, he transformed the foyer into an intimate concert hall and thrilled the audience with songs by artists featured in Fritz Egner’s book.
Guests were exquisitely catered for by the team of Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich, whose selected culinary delights perfectly complemented the evening.
With enthusiastic applause, warm conversations, and many happy faces, the evening came to a close. Celebrating not only a book, but a man who has shaped the German television and radio landscape, and whose stories will continue to resonate for years to come.
