Steinway showroom transforms into art gallery: Vernissage with Ares Yannakopoulos
Munich, July 23, 2025 – Surrounded by the polished elegance of grand pianos and the quiet sophistication of exquisite piano tones, the Steinway & Sons showroom in Munich became a stage for art last night. The vernissage of photographer Ares Yannakopoulos captivated invited guests from the worlds of art, entertainment, business, and media.
In a vibrant yet intimate atmosphere, Ares Yannakopoulos presented 19 carefully selected works, printed on high-quality Alu-Dibond. These photographs impress with their striking visual clarity, a refined sensitivity to light and shadow, and a deeply emotional resonance. His art plays with color and perspective, inviting viewers to pause and reflect—evocative, intense, and beautiful.
Musical accompaniment was provided by rising pianist Vivien Walser, enchanting the art and music lovers in attendance.
“My work aims to make emotion visible and to share the beauty I see,” the artist explained during the exhibition.
And he succeeds brilliantly: his photographs tell stories beyond the obvious—poetic, powerful, and deeply personal.
Culinary delights for the evening included light summer dishes, chilled soups, refined salads, and imaginative gin & tonic creations featuring Muttermilch Gin from his adopted home in Tyrol, paired with Schweppes. A tasteful harmony of flavor and aesthetics that added another layer of enjoyment to the evening.
Among the guests welcomed by host Joe Plakinger were: TV and radio host Fritz Egner, actress Gabrielle Odinis, celebrity hairdresser Manfred Kraft, entrepreneurs Jochen Ofner (Profinanz Capital Partners) and Dunja Siegel, Leica gallerist Stefan Huber, and internist Dr. Tobias Sokolowski.
It was more than just an event—it was an experience that harmoniously united art, music, and indulgence on an emotional level.
The exhibition will be on view at Steinway & Sons Munich, Maximiliansplatz 12 b, 80333 Munich, until August 1, 2025, open Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Saturdays from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Private viewings with the artist available upon request.
About Ares Yannakopoulos (AresDKY):
Ares Yannakopoulos discovered his passion for photography as a teenager, inspired by his father’s camera—his father being an architect. He participated in early exhibitions, developed prints in the darkroom by hand, and created his first works with remarkable sensitivity. Following family tradition, he initially studied law and became a successful attorney. But in 2016, he followed his artistic calling and returned to photography. His first exhibition in the Kitzbühel Alps marked the beginning of a new, creative chapter in his life. Today, he is considered one of the compelling voices in contemporary photographic art—always in pursuit of that one, perfect moment.
